A reporter has been arrested in Kansas City, Missouri, after an apparent attempt to commit a hate crime, police said on Thursday.
The Kansas City Police Department said in a statement that they responded to a report of a person of interest in the area of South Lamar and North Lamar roads around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
When officers arrived, they found a male in his late 20s with a large, white bandana covering his face and wearing a mask.
The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, police told KCTV5.
The man had been arrested before, and the department is still investigating the motive for the recent attempt to kill, the KCPD said.
Officers found a “small amount of marijuana” in the suspect’s vehicle, the department said.
They also found a rifle in the vehicle and a loaded handgun.
The Kansas City Press-Gazette reported that the suspect was identified as 27-year-old Joseph H. Krasner of Kansas City.
