How to survive a frigid winter storm in the Detroit suburbs

A frigid Detroit winter storm is heading toward the region and authorities are urging residents to stay inside.

Officials say the city is expecting an expected 1 to 3 inches of snow, which could affect roads and bridges, but it won’t be dangerous.

A wind chill warning is in effect for the entire region, which includes parts of Detroit, Warren and Detroit Hills.

Detroit police said Wednesday that police have issued a weather advisory for the area due to the frigid weather.

The storm will be moving eastward, with a high of 4 to 7 mph, and a low of 1 to 2 inches, according to a Weather.com forecast.

Forecasters are urging people to stay indoors in the coming days and avoid driving.

“Stay away from vehicles, especially during periods of high winds,” the National Weather Service said.
